What Clause is, and isn't

Clause is a contract-analysis tool that flags risk and explains clauses in plain English. It is not a law firm, not a solicitor, and using it does not create a solicitor-client relationship. Its output is general legal information, not legal advice, and not a legal ruling on whether any clause is enforceable.

No reliance

You must not rely on Clause's output as your only basis for a decision. It is AI-generated, it can be incomplete, and it can be wrong. For any decision that matters, whether to sign, amend or refuse a contract, consider having a qualified solicitor review it first.

Provided as is

Clause is provided as is and as available, without warranty of accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from your reliance on the output. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Acceptable use

Use Clause lawfully. Don't submit material you have no right to, and don't include other people's personal or sensitive data without a basis. Don't attack, overload, scrape, reverse-engineer or attempt to jailbreak the service. Fair-use rate limits apply, and we may limit or suspend access that threatens the service or other users.

Early access

Clause is free during early access. Features and availability may change, there is no uptime guarantee, and you may hit rate limits or rough edges. Founding-member pricing will be introduced later; we'll give notice, and you won't be charged without opting in.

Your analyses and their storage

Analyses are stored encrypted so you can return to them through a private link. You can delete an analysis at any time, and it deletes automatically after 90 days. Keep your private link private: anyone with the link can view that analysis. The Privacy page describes the storage in full.

Intellectual property

You keep all rights in the contract you submit. We keep all rights in Clause itself, including the tool, the interface and the risk playbook. By submitting a contract, you give us a limited licence to process and store that text, encrypted, solely to provide the service, until you delete it or it expires.

AI limitations

You acknowledge that Clause's output is generated by AI, which can miss issues, misjudge risk, or produce wording that does not fit your deal. Suggested redlines are starting points for discussion, not solicitor-drafted clauses. Check any wording fits your situation before you use it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms; we'll change the date above when we do. If you keep using Clause after a change, that update applies to your use. Questions: hello@clause.work.
