Scope of work and change control
Scope creep is where 'just one more small thing' quietly turns a fixed-price job into months of unpaid extras. A tight list of deliverables plus a rule that anything outside it is a paid change order protects your time. It also protects the client by making the deal predictable.
What to look for
Whether the deliverables are defined specifically, and whether there is a written change-control process (extra work = extra fee and/or extra time) so new requests do not silently expand the job for the same money.
How Clause rates it
RedScope is open-ended or defined by broad phrases like 'all work necessary' or 'to the Client's requirements', with no mechanism to charge for additions, exposing the freelancer to unlimited scope creep.
AmberScope is described but the change process is informal or one-sided (client can request changes but pricing for them is not fixed).
GreenDeliverables are listed specifically and any change requires a written change order agreeing the extra fee and revised timeline before work proceeds.

The Services are limited to the deliverables listed in Schedule 1. Any work outside that list is a change and will proceed only under a written change order signed by both parties setting out the additional fee and any adjustment to the timeline.
